2022 Transportation Professional of the Year
Hardik Shah

Hardik Shah is a highly passionate and engaged ITE member. Hardik first joined the group as a student 17 years ago at the grassroots level while doing graduate research work and serving as a teaching assistant at Purdue University. Hardik has held progressively challenging local, regional, and national/international positions with ITE in various capacities. At a section and district level, Hardik introduced a collaborative approach with other organizations to improve member experience that resulted in making the district’s annual meetings as well as section events more profitable. During his tenure on the ITE Indiana Section board, he was instrumental in contributing to key initiatives for long-term success of the Section. As Hardik transitioned from section to district leadership, student engagement was at its highest level from the district. Several new student chapters were formed, membership increased by 15 percent, and he also introduced a new scholarship funding structure for students that increased the support level from $7,500 to $10,000. Hardik is a published author of multiple technical articles, studies, and presentations appearing in professional journals and at national and international transportation conferences. Over past several years he has presented and moderated at various ITE section, district and international conferences on topics and trends relevant to the industry.  Professionally, Hardik Shah is the National Practice Director and Traffic Group Leader at American Structurepoint, Inc. who has significantly contributed to the success of company’s growth as a premiere consulting A/E engineering firm in Indiana and Midwest. His absolute commitment to improving safety and mobility for the traveling public shines through in every project he touches. In large part due to Hardik’s drive to grow the company’s traffic engineering business in both size and revenue from the time he joined the firm in 2005, the company’s executives made the strategic decision to establish a traffic engineering business unit in 2019 and promoted Hardik to lead the unit. Hardik is a well-rounded expert in the area of traffic/transportation engineering, an outside-the-box thinker for innovative and value engineering solutions with 17 years of professional design, development and management experience on over 600+ transportation projects.
