Keynote Speaker – Monday

Brett Roubinek
President and CEO


Brett Roubinek is president and CEO of Transportation Research Center, Inc., North America’s largest independent automotive test center and proving ground, providing a full range of research opportunities for the world’s innovators in automotive and mobility technologies.

Roubinek came to TRC in March 2016, bringing more that 25 years of experience in growing businesses and fostering innovation across the automotive ecosystem, including on-track proficiency as a professional racecar driver and instructor. Initially responsible for overseeing research efforts and day-to-day operations across TRC’s 4,500-acre campus, he was named president and CEO in July 2017.

Under Roubinek’s leadership TRC has significantly expanded its research capabilities and facilities in recent years, including development of the 540-acre TRC SMARTCenter complex for testing and refining automated-driving technologies and autonomous vehicles. TRC has also developed strong new partnerships with federal, state and local governments, higher education and industry for joint research in the next generation of transportation performance, safety and connectivity technologies.

Prior to joining TRC, Roubinek served as: senior director of strategy and consultancy for a global motorsports marketing agency; vice president of sales and marketing for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course; vice president of marketing and chief operating officer of iRacing.com; and managing director of the Skip Barber Racing School – among other industry roles.

Roubinek is a graduate of Denison University. He serves on the board of impact 60 and as Chairman of DriveOhio Expert Advisory Board.

Sessions  

The District solicits transportation professionals to share technical transportation knowledge through 20-30 minute presentations. The program typically has 5-7 technical sessions, including panel sessions, workshops and/or up to 12 individual topics.

Special Sunday Workshop on Traffic Impact Analysis

A specially designed course on Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) will be available for conference attendees for an additional cost of $175 (ITE Members rate) and $250 (non-member rate).  This course will be taught by the same instructors that provide the full ITE TIA course and is schedule to run from 9 am to 4 pm. 

Professional Development Hours

Our conference agenda is reviewed and approved by ITE International each year and PDHs can be earned.  Click here for instructions to request PDH credit.

Networking Breaks

We understand the importance of catching up with old friends and acquaintances and meeting new contacts especially in one of the first in-person events you are attending. During our technical program, we provide networking breaks each day in addition to the socials described below.


Member Socials

Columbus Mobility Tour – Monday Afternoon  

We have arranged tours of the ODOT Traffic Management Center (TMC).  Come see the exciting technology and operations happening right here in our own backyard.  Pre-registration is required along with a $30 fee to cover costs and transportation. Spots are limited.  See the Registration menu for additional details on signing up. Transportation will be provided from the conference site via COTA.

CoGo Bike Social – Sunday Afternoon

The Planning Committee is seeking interest from anyone that would like to participate in a shared group ride through CoGO Bikes.  This will be a pay as you go event (through the Lyft app), and is a self-guided tour for those that would like to explore.  You can indicate your interest in this event by marking the selection through the conference Registration.  More details will follow to those that are interested.

GL-ITEy Race – Sunday Evening  

Join us on Sunday at for the first Annual GL-ITEy Race! The GL-ITEy Race is a scavenger hunt in the vein of the Amazing Race, in which teams of up to 5 find and complete checkpoint stops given by clues around the meeting. Each stop consists of activities that may be fun, challenging, or even embarrassing, but every stop must be checked off by the checkpoint marshal before they head to the race finish line. Each member must sign a waiver, and the cost is 20 dollars per team (all proceeds go to the District’s Endowment Fund). It’ll be a great time and all for an awesome cause. All ages welcome! Welcome Reception – Sunday Evening  

The Welcome Reception is open to anyone for attendance and will occur on Sunday, August 29th in the Lobby Terrace.  Come join us in kicking off the first Great Lakes District Annual Meeting. This is a no cost event but pre-registration is appreciated.

Social Networking – Monday Evening

This relaxed social provides an opportunity for all attendees to interact and build relationships.  Stay tuned for more details.
