Welcome to Indianapolis, Indiana!
We are excited to welcome you for the ITE Great Lakes District & WTS Central Region Annual Meeting at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Union Station! The Indianapolis Union Station was the first planned Union station in the United States, conceived in 1848. However, the station you’re staying in this week is not the original building, but the second station built on the site. The head house and clock tower which still stand today were built in 1886 of Richardsonian Romanesque style. In 1986 after the decline of rail operations, the station was renovated and the Crowne Plaza opened with its signature Pullman car suites. (Ask the concierge if you’re interested in a tour). The station still operates today, with service from Chicago to New York passing through three times a week via the Amtrak Cardinal Line.
Getting Here
If you rode into town via the Cardinal, you wouldn’t have to walk too far! If you drove in, the Crowne Plaza offers a valet service for $60. If you’d prefer not using valet, there are over 73,000 parking spots downtown to choose from. You can find more information about the various lots and garages here from DowntownIndy.org or use these parking maps provided by Crowne Plaza.
Coming from the airport? IndyGo Route 8 offers service every half hour to the downtown transit center, just blocks away from the Crowne Plaza. Rideshare apps are also available from the airport typically without any wait.
