Cyber Security – Emily Crose & Darrin Hanna

Emily Crose is an information security professional with 13 years of field experience. Previously, Emily has worked in the field of transportation security while at Dragon inc. performing wholistic penetration testing on locomotive onboard propulsion, braking, and notification systems. Emily’s experience also includes past work in intelligence collection for the NSA, CIA and US Army INSCOM on challenges involving sensitive computer system exploitation.

Darrin Hanna is a Professor of Engineering at Oakland University specializing in artificial intelligence and embedded systems. His research area in cybersecurity includes using autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles, anomaly detection, and other intelligent systems to provide physical protection. Dr. Hanna has consulted with several companies ranging from startups to General Motors for over 25 years. He has over 50 published articles, co-authored 15 books, and holds one patent. He is a recipient of the International Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award from the IEEE and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Commercialization Success Award for commercializing innovative software using AI.

Vital Streets – Suzanne Schulz

Suzanne Schulz, FAICP is the Urban Planning Practice Leader with Progressive AE. The practice focuses on supporting innovative land use and transportation planning through inclusive community engagement. Suzanne is the former Managing Director of Design and Development and Planning Director for the City of Grand Rapids (MI). She led leading-edge planning processes that resulted in significant zoning reforms and nearly $6 billion in new public and private investment during her 20-year tenure. Suzanne is the former Board President of the Michigan Chapter of the American Planning Association, and she served on the State of Michigan’s Complete Streets Advisory Council and Medical Marijuana Advisory Panel, Fair Housing Center of West Michigan Board of Directors, and Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities Advisory Council. She is a co-author of the Michigan Chapter of APA’s Zoning Reform Toolkit: 15 Tools to Expand Housing Choice + Supply.
